The 11th annual Australian Accounting Awards black-tie gala ceremony was held tonight (20 June) at Hyatt Regency, Sydney with support from principal partner Intuit QuickBooks.

A total of 36 members of the accounting profession were chosen as the winners at the awards out of almost 300 finalists across 20 individual and 15 group submissions-based categories. The highest-scoring individual winner walked away with the Accountants Daily Excellence Award trophy.

This year, that prestigious award was given to Latitude Accountants’ client manager and accountant Michael Saade, after he was named Rising Star of the Year earlier in the evening.

Over 550 members of the accounting profession attended the sold-out Australian Accounting Awards 2024 to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues while networking with leaders of the industry as well as their peers.

There was laughter and entertainment throughout the evening as writer, actor, and satirist Mark Humphries assumed emcee duties at the ceremony.

Accountants Daily editor Miranda Brownlee said the awards this year have again highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication of accounting professionals across the industry.

“Accounting professionals work incredibly hard for their clients and communities each and every day. It is an honour to celebrate their achievements and success,” she said.

The Australian Accounting Awards was launched in 2014 to provide national recognition to the leading firms and professions driving the Australian accounting industry forward.

Since then, it has become the most anticipated program in the profession and set the benchmark for excellence while pinpointing professional development and innovation, and highlighting the contribution from senior and budding accountants, auditors, chief financial officers, partners, mentors, thought leaders, rising stars, as well as accounting firms and successful businesses.

Many accounting professionals and businesses have capitalised on the program to distinguish themselves from their competitors in a competitive marketplace and strengthen their position in the industry by elevating their personal brand to unlock new career opportunities.
