Accountants Daily is pleased to announce that it has informed several members of the accounting industry that they have qualified as finalists for the Australian Accounting Awards 2024.

In the coming weeks, more details will be revealed about the individual and group finalists who will compete for trophies across 21 individual and 15 group submission-based categories at this year’s ceremony.

On top of this, the highest-scoring individual winner will be the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award.

The judging panel includes respected professionals and business leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

Awards judge and executive director, alternative investments at JPMorgan Chase & Co, Ting Song, said she was impressed by the high quality of submissions this year.

“Each finalist stood out with exceptional qualities and innovative approaches,” she told Accountants Daily.

“Several finalists demonstrated impressive revenue growth through strategic vision, driving financial success. Their proactive and personalised client services have built strong relationships.

“Choosing the finalists was tough, but ultimately, they were selected for their outstanding performance in innovation, customer service, and business impact, setting a high industry standard.”

A second judge and Grant Thornton Australia senior associate, risk consulting, Isha Miglani, remarked that she was impressed by the outstanding quality of the entries from this year’s finalists.

“The innovative solutions and forward-thinking business models they have implemented truly set them apart in the industry,” she said.

“Their creative approaches to addressing challenges, leveraging advanced technologies, and developing sustainable practices demonstrate a remarkable commitment to excellence. These firms and individuals are not only meeting current demands but are also shaping the future of accounting.”

Miglani said: “It is inspiring to witness such ingenuity and dedication, and I am very much looking forward to the awards night.”

Now in its 11th year, the Australian Accounting Awards are an unparalleled program that recognises the leading firms and professionals who are propelling the Australian accounting industry forward.

They pinpoint professional development and innovation while highlighting the contributions of the profession’s most senior ranks to its rising stars.

The awards will shine a light on the achievements of prominent members of the accounting industry, including experienced and young accountants, chief financial officers, bookkeepers, auditors, partners, and academics.

Several businesses will also receive accolades for operating successfully and demonstrating growth, including accounting and bookkeeping firms, business advisory and SMSF firms, start-up firms, as well as networks.

Finalist submissions will be delivered to the judging panel, who will assess each submission against the criteria of each award category. The methodology can be viewed here.

The judges score each part of the submission across the category’s criteria, giving an aggregated score. Several judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.

The combined judging scores for each submission for each category are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.

The awards are peer-reviewed recognition of the capabilities of individuals and businesses to bolster the accounting sector.

The winners will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremony on Thursday, 20 June 2024 at Hyatt Regency, Sydney.

The awards ceremony presents an opportunity for businesses and professionals to network with leaders of the accounting industry while celebrating the successes of their colleagues.
